Joe's
This diner-style restaurant is run by a couple to whom “compromise” is a dirty word. Roland, having headed fine kitchens in London, NYC, Toronto and Santa Fe offers superb quality food, often gourmet dishes at astonishingly reasonable prices. Along with his wife, Sheila, their driving commitment at Joe’s, is to utilize as much local and sustainably raised food as economically feasible. This is reflected in the fact that in 2008, Joe’s spent well over $30,000 on locally produced foods from New Mexico farmers and ranchers; indeed more than any other restaurant in Santa Fe. This, more than anything else, is what Joe’s is all about.
Joe’s aspires to and is inspired by the profound insights on the subject of food in Michael Pollan’s, The Omnivore’s Dilemma. The U.S. food chain has become synthesized and manipulated by a very few big players. Here at Joe’s, we are doing in a very small way, what we can to break that chain. With a capable and skilled chef at the helm, we offer delicious, often gourmet dishes using New Mexico grown flour, grass-fed beef, buffalo, lamb, local poultry, organic eggs, goat cheeses and other local ingredients.
Here is a sampling of our menu: mesquite grilled meats, seafood, gourmet pizza, gluten-free pizza, burgers (beef, lamb and buffalo), calamari, fiore di latte (fresh mozzarella) made in house daily, house-smoked salmon, tender beef brisket, homemade potato chips, guacamole, beer and wine, rack of lamb, award-winning soups, grilled salmon, blue corn pancakes, chocolate mousse, lemon meringue pie, triple berry peach pie, French chocolate truffles, great salads, breakfast, brunch, eggs Benedict, eggs Imperial, daily-made quiches, roast duck, prime rib, meat loaf, mimosas and on and on.
